WILL INSYDER GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD?

After Safaricom heavily sponsored both Chaguo La Teeniez and Groove awards this year, the mobile service provider is re-considering their next move. According to very close sources inside Safaricom House, the top managers are considering dropping off Chaguo La Teeniez awards, organised by Insyder Magazine. Some of the reasons cited include lack of proper coverage before and after the event, and it's poor management. Although the fate of Groove awards is yet to be known, the event organisers, Mo Sound, seem to be enjoying the few events that they are getting from Safaricom. However, there are allegations about the improper use of funds by MO Sound company, so their fate is yet to be known. If Safcom pulls out of Chaguo La Teeniez, it will be a major blow for them as another tittle sponsor Fanta, pulled out two years ago. The matter is still in court.

REDSAN HIRED THE RANGE ROVER!!!

Dancehall musician Redsan is a big liar, sometimes. According to sources, Redsan hired the Range Rover Sport car he used at the Safaricom Sevens, held early this month. He went to Subru Motors and was told it would cost him 20k to hire the ride for a day. When he suggested to the owner that he would only pay 10k then finish the res later, the owner refused and Redsan was forced to pay the full amount. And Oh Yeah, he came and flossed with it at the Sevens!

NDARLING P BACK IN THE COUNTRY

"Yes Yes Yo! Ndarling P in yo area....4 in One...." Can't even remember the original lyrics for this song. His name is Ndarling P, who was a hit in the late 90's, did two songs and left the country. Now he's back, actually he's been around for a couple of months. He says he wants to remain under the radar at the moment, until he releases his new songs. "Actually am in the studio, trying to record a number of songs before I officially tell people that I'm back," he told ShowbizTu. Ndarling P came back from Australia, where he was studying and working at the same time. He was among the first musicians to release urban hip hop, together with Hardstone, Swahili Nation, Intu, Nikki, Kalamashaka, among others. He says he's not in a hurry to go back to Australia.

QUNCY, ARUNGA AND HELLON ARE AT IT AGAIN!

The three musketeers are yet to relax. According to very close sources to the controversial Finger of God church leaders, the three have been hunting for a brand new Range Rover Sport car. Last Frirday, they landed at Subru Motors in Lavington. But do they have the money to pay for the expensive car? NO! They wanted to trade in Esther's BMW 5 series and Hellon's Mercedes Benz, and then top up the remaining cash. Apparently, the management of Subru Motors declined the offer, first because they doubted if they had papers for the said cars. Will these people ever wake up and realise that they are fooling each other?

IS MOB DJS SPLITTING?

We thought it would be the only DJ group that will stand the test of time, but things seem not to be going that way. MOB (Music Oriented Brothers) DJs seem to heading for a down fall. The two leaders of the group, DJ Space and DJ Nijo, seem not to be in agreement, jobwise. Trouble started when DJ Nijo got the contract of playing at the monthly 'Untamed' party last year, held at Rangers restaurant. The same DJ has been getting several gigz outside the DJ outfit, which has not been going down well with DJ Space, the main investor in the unit, says a close source. Nijo has been threatening to quit, our source continues, but Space has been persuading him to stay. One of the top djs, DJ Scratch One, has already left the stable.

It's been over six months since Coast-based hip-hop artiste Cannibal 'Shattah' shot the video for his song 'My Fans'. But video producer Pinch is yet to release is despite being paid fully by the artiste. Cannibal says he's ready to take the next steps by taking Pinch to court.

JULIANI FIRES DJ VIQ AND MANAGER

He is one of the best lyricists in Kenya right now and musically, he's doing very well. But is this too big for Julius Owino, better known as Juliani? Is showbiz getting into his head? Apparently, the rapper has fired his performance DJ and stage manager, DJ Viq, who is also a former Mr Kenya title holder. Also fired is his publicity manager, Jean Marc, who has been handling local publicity for former child soldier and sudanese artiste Emmanuel Jal, now based in London. According to sources close to ShowbizTu, Viq is now hunting for a post at Blackstar Entertainment. Contacted, he confirmed the reports saying that he is no longer working with Juliani but pursuing other artistes.
"I'm doing stuff with Nameless now, but will be joining Blackstar too," he said.

DNA THREATENS TO SUE KCB OVER 'BANKIKA'

Gospel musician DNA (Dennis Kaggia) has threaten to take Kenya Commercial Bank to court over the use of the song 'Bankika Tu', in the bank's new Bankika account radio and TV commercials. According to DNA's lawyer, the promotion song in the advertisement is copied from DNA's hit song 'Banjuka'.
"They have used the same format to get more attention to the youth. They think artistes are weak and cannot fight for their rights, I will fight to the end, even if it seems like a David vs Goliath war," said DNA. No official communication has been issued by KCB so far on the case.

RINGTONE AND OGOPA IN FRESH BEEF!

The boy has started breathing fire! That is gospel musician Ringtone. Close sources to the musicians reveal that Ringtone has been issuing threats to Ogopa DJs, over the delay of his video release. Ringtone shot his video 'Twende Kanisani' with Ogopa Videos in March this year but he is still waiting for the video to be released. Before he went for his North Rift tour late last month, sources say that Ogopa's spokesman, Banda, kicked the musician out of the studio after he started making noise at all the producers in the stable over his video.
"We are not satisfied with the video so far, but we are working on it. We want Ringtone to get the best," said Banda. But Ringtone claims that the stable is delaying his video intentionally, despite paying them the full amount of video fees.
"They promised it will be done in less than a month...it's four months now. What explanations do they have?" asked Ringtone. Other musicians with the same issues with Ogopa include Nikki, Kingsting, Netto, Makadem, Mr Prime, among others.

SECOND WEEK FOR NAZIZI'S MOTHERHOOD

Yes, it's week two since Nazizi gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Tafari! "It's tough being a mother but it's the whole new experience that I love," says the first lady of hip-hop. However, she seems not to be in control of her baby since close family members have taken over her job.
"My mother is all over my son, she spends most of her day here and would not let me do anything at all! That's the joy of being a grandmother I guess," she continues. But worse is the hubby, who has now abandoned their American Pit Bull puppies and spends lots of time with the son.
"Two weeks ago, it was these puppies, but now, my son rules my world," says hubby Vinnie.
Will the little boy grow with dreadlocks? "Most likely," they both say.
