EXCLUSIVE: THE BIG GOSPEL BREAK-UP!!!
They went down on their knees together during this year's Groove awards at KICC. They've gone on stage countless times and wowed the crowd for the past one year. But now they are no more.....wont even stand the sight of each other. This is Daddy Owen, the King of Kapungala and Alan Aron, the Mukorino singer with a swagger. Trouble started less than a month ago, after the Nibebe Tour held in Nakuru in July. They went on stage and performed their hit collabo 'Kiriro', but that was the last time they two went on stage together. Two Sundays ago, on August 15, things took a different turn during the Nibebe-Nyeri tour. Their differences over the song 'Kiriro' had gone to the climax. According to very close sources, Alan claims the sole rights of the song, while Owen claims he actually financed the whole 'Kiriro' project, from recording the track to the shooting of the video. Owen seems to be making a kill out of the song while Alan, the original composer, is still struggling to mint anything out of it.
So what happened in Nyeri?
The show was to start from 1pm to 6pm, which it did. Alan was backstage at 1pm sharp, and requested to sing early enough, together with the curtain-raisers, something that surprised the organisers. He was the fourth artiste to go on stage after Loise Kim and Ben Githae and a couple of other Nyeri-based artistes. On stage, he only performed 'Wemutheru' and 'Kiriro' and after that, he was out of Nyeri 20 minutes later. Owen on the other side, accompanied by Danco, came to the venue at 5pm, straight from Nairobi. When he went on stage, Owen and Danco only performed 'System ya Kapungala' and 'Tobina'. They never touched 'Kiriro', even when the fans requested for it. In a normal performance, Alan would go on stage first and get off, then when Owen's turn comes, he would perform 'System ya Kapungala', then invite Alan and sing 'Kiriro' together, and he finally finishes with 'Tobina'. And this happened in Nakuru, but not Nyeri.
The same scenario played at Safaricom Face-off concert last weekend, held in Nairobi's KICC. This time, Owen had a better excuse of coming to the event late; he was down with chicken pox.
The can of worms in gospel industry have began......watch this space for the juiciest of them all.
CMB LENDS HIS SECURITY TO AY AND FA
CMB Prezzo, the self-proclaimed King of Bling, is not going down, at least not yet. Last Saturday, he decided to give his security detail to Bongo musicians AY and Mwana FA, who were accompanied by their country manager Maleek Buddy and Fundi Frank. As they attended the Safaricom Face-Off concert at KICC, the four were heavily guarded with Prezzo's chief security, Oti, leading the team. They were later spotted at different nightspots in Hurlingham and Westlands. Prezzo, too, joined the team later in the evening.
DNG GRADUATES

Together with hundreds of other students from all over Africa, DNG was among the graduands at the United States International University (USIU) last Saturday. He graduated with a degree in International Business Administration. "I'm a very happy man now and since I've been working hard in my other careers, I will make good use of my degree too," he said. DNG is a presenter at Kiss FM, a TV host at Kiss TV, a popular musician, hypeman and the owner of 254 Entertainment, an event organising company. A TALE OF MAINA KAGENI AND HIS HUMMER
Now we know what happens to the black Hummer, owned by Classic 105 breakfast presenter Maina Kageni, every time he's away. He leaves it behind to two people, Churchill and Shaffie Weru! And yes, they make good use of it. Two weekends ago, Churchill made an entrance with the tough car at Nibebe Tour in Nyeri, carrying fellow MC, Alemba of System Unit, and Wazee Wetu of 'Sudu' fame song. Last weekend, Kiss FM presenter had it and was doing rounds all over Nairobi's night spots. On board was Mwana FA and AY. Shaffie's Mercedes ML 500 was with his babymama Debbie Asila, hanging out at Club Galileos with Shinde, a club Shaffie stayed out of bounds the entire night.

RINGTONE TO AUCTION HIS CAR FOR CHARITY
Gospel musician Ringtone is about to auction his Toyota Celica for a charity purpose. The former street kid, popularly known for his hit 'Pamela', will announce soon the date when the auction will be done to the highest bidder.
"The sports car is being souped up again but the day it will be finished will determine the auction day," said Ringtone, who now drives a four-wheel-drive Nissan Patrol. He plans to buy land with the money and develop a talent centre, which will have a fully-equipped studio, voice-training centre and music instruments school, all targeting the talented but less fortunate youths. "I made it through hardships and this is my time to give back. I hope I can be able to make more less-fortunate youths realise their dreams," he said. The auction day will be marked with a big concert, he says, all proceeds going towards the establishment of the centre.

SADAT: "RAY C WAS UNDER INFLUENCE'
Promoter-cum-politician Sadat has defended his move to cancel Ray C's Kenyan tour. According to Sadat, he was not happy with the way Ray C conducted herself from the airport to Club Summit in Nakuru. "She was under influence and I actually saved her from embarrassing herself on stage. She was almost taking all her clothes off on stage," said Sadat. He has also denied rumors that he wanted to sleep with Ray C.
"I didn't send her any suggestive messages as she claims. If I had any problem, why did I pay for her boyfriend's air ticket to Nairobi?" he asks. Meanwhile, Sadat has canceled Ray C's and her boyfie's tickets back to Dar, that means they have to pay their own air tickets.

RAY C: "THE PROMOTER WANTED TO SLEEP WITH ME."
Ray C has now revealed that the promoter of her Kenyan tour, Sadat, wanted to sleep with her. Apparently, before she came to Kenya, Sadat flew to Dar on a 'business trip'. "Sadat told me that he was on a business trip but kept on sending me sex-related messages, which I still have on my phone. I was shocked because I didn't expect that from him," she said. Apparently, drama started when Ray C went to meet Sadat accompanied by her boyfriend Lord Eye, something that didn't go down well with the promoter, an aspiring politician from Kitale.
"It became worse when I showed up at the airport with Lord Eye, and Sadat became completely pissed off. Because I refused to sleep with him in Dar, then I come to Kenya with my boyfriend, he started creating excuses to cancel my show," she said. Ray C is yet to be paid $9,000, even after her shows were canceled.

DRAMA AS RAY C'S KENYAN TOUR CANCELLED
Bongo's female star Rehema Chalamila, popularly known as Ray C, is back in Nairobi, as drama ensued between her and her promoters in Nakuru last weekend. Ray C, was meant to do a series of shows in Kenya this month and finally wind up the tour in Southern Sudan's capital, Juba. According to close sources, the Kenyan tour alone was supposed to earn the musician $10,000 (about KSh800,000), and the agreement was that she gets her downpayment upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport. She was to get the rest before she goes on stage in her first show, which was in Nakuru last Saturday. The promoters, with musician Refigah as their spokesman, did not honor the agreement at the airport but still proceeded for the Nakuru show. Ray C did not complain as she went on stage and wowed the crowd. Real trouble started when fans asked for more songs and Refigah had to snatch the microphone from Ray C and cut the show. The promoters started accusing her of going against the agreement, and she was forced to take a cab to her hotel. On Sunday morning, the promoters phones were all off and when Ray C managed to raise one of them, she was threatened and told to go back to Dar es Salaam. Ray C's country manager, Maleek Buddy, was away on a business trip and was forced to fly back to Nairobi to meet Ray C and solve the issue. By Sunday evening, Buddy had arrived and was handling the matter withe the police.

ARTISTES GOT PAID TO CAMPAIGN FOR REFERENDUM
Wonder why an artiste would wake up and attend a press conference at 10 am? Money! Money must be involved. Slightly over a month ago, a group of artistes, ranging from Nameless to Nonini, Suzana Owiyo, Abura, Wawesh, Amani, Juliani, Avril, Wyre, to mention but a few, had a press conference at Alliance Francaise, backed by Committee of Experts on the proposed constitution. In the conference, Kenyans for Change 2010 (K4C10) told the media that they will be going round the country through concerts, mainly to urge Kenyans to read the draft and make a wise decision. Nonini was quoted saying: "All the artistes are here because they want change. We are not paid, our travel and accommodation are just being facilitated." Yesterday, singer Amani contradicted his sentiments, saying: "Of course we were paid, good money indeed. Do you think I'd go round the country and not make any cash while the budget is there?"
Sources indicate that over Sh20 million was dished out to produce the joint song, 'Amua', by COE. Artistes were paid well, that's why they could afford to travel with dancers all over. So who are we going to believe?
Sunday, August 1, 2010
As Madhouse looks for new premises, Choices Club on Baricho Road is up for sale. The owner is looking for a buyer who will pay cash. Choices is famously known for it's rock night on Sundays, among other nights. The management has been changed several times, greatly affecting the clients flow, and that's why the club is currently not doing that good.
RINGTONE AND MAJIMAJI IN A COLLABO?
It's getting stranger as time goes by! Majimaji, now working at Ghetto Radio, has done a collabo with gospel musician Ringtone, famous for his song 'Pamela'. The product? It's either Maji has gone gospel or Ringtone is sliding to the secular world. The song is called 'Talanta' and the video will be shot this week.
OUSMAN SEES THE LIGHT!
Wonder where reggae musician Ousmane is? Wonder no more. He is planning a comeback, on the other side of music. Ousmane has confessed that he saw the light a few months ago and is now working on new gospel music. "I have recorded already, it's just being mixed now. I want to inspire people with my music and also uplift my God through music," he said. He has even cut his dreadlocks.

AMANI DUMPS BAND TWO DAYS TO EVENT!
Musician Amani, real names Cecelia Wairimu, can be really disappointing sometimes. Yesterday, she dumped the band Murfys Flaw, meant to back her up in tomorrows performance at KICC during the Women's Conference, after rehearsing for a full month! The all-women band was more disappointed because she failed to explain why. Reached for comment, she declined to discuss the matter at all, only saying that she will do a playback performance.

MEJJA: I'M KENYAN, NOT BURUNDIAN!
Calif Record's artiste Mejja, is now defending his nationality after media reports earlier indicated that he's Burundian. The reports came late last year when he twice missed shows organised for him in Germany. According to the show promoters, Mejja couldn't get a passport at the Immigration department, due to his nationality issues. Mejja has finally secured a passport and will be performing in Dubai after Ramadhan. "I was born in Bahati maternity, then raised up in Majengo, Nyeri. I have a Kenyan ID and am 100 per cent Kenyan," he finally dismissed the media reports.
LAM IN US AND CANADA TOUR
South Sudanese musician and businessman Lam Tungwar, is in a two-week tour in Canada and USA. The musician, also a former child soldier and the current UN Messenger of Truth representing Southern Sudan, passed by Nairobi last week headed to the US. He is currently in Canada performing in different cities as well as addressing youth conferences. Lam is also set to launch his album in Kenya, 'Call the President', in November. His company, South Sudanese Artistes Association, is also set to launch the Miss Malaika South Sudan beauty pageant, an annual event that started in Nairobi before shifting base to Juba, South Sudan four years ago. The preliminaries will be done in September.
LEXXY SNEAKS INTO THE COUNTRY!
Former XYZee singer Lexxy has sneaked into the country! He came more than a week ago to promote his video 'Pretender', according to sources, but he seems to be having more personal issues he's dealing with. The musician, who has been studying computer science in Dallas, Texas, while working in a clothes shop as part time job, has been planning a secret wedding too. However, he is not amused that lots of people came to know about it and he could be changing the plans. It also seems that his girlfriend, Brenda, an air hostess, is yet to secure a visa to the US.

ASH AND THE ARREST WARRANT: THE TRUTH
Today, Kenyans woke up to an advertisement in the Daily Nation (page 53)where business man and showbiz entrepreneur Ash, popularly known for his Mash Auto garage, is wanted by the Children's court. The arrest warrant says that he should either present himself to court or Parklands police station. Well, Ash is not hiding, ShowbizTu has confirmed. In fact, he lives five minutes away from the Parklands Police station itself, something that's quite known by the OCS himself. His phone has not gone off either, ShobizTu spoke to him today. Now, here's the story.
When Ash separated with his ex-wife about five years ago, things have never been the same again. His two children went with the wife to the parents' house in Lavington, a very wealthy family indeed. The ex-wife is the sister to Pinky Ghelani's hubby, Raj.
The parents have been giving Ash a lot of pressure, especially because their separation humiliated the family, which is highly regarded amongst the hindu circles in the country. The family, which is well-connected to the corridors of power too, went to court filing a case against Ash. The case included forcing Ash to pay Sh1 million per month as child support!!!!!!
Ash appealed. Of course, that's an insane amount per month, he says. The issue is, Ash has evidence that the ex was cheating on him, that's why they separated, and he has the confession too. This family has seen a losing battle and that's why they've gone ahead to publish the advertisement in the newspaper. This advert is supposed to trigger some reaction from Ash, so that they can use it against him in court. Again, they want to humiliate him too. One million bob for two children as child support?????? Crazy! Kwani wanakula through internet?

GOSPEL MUSICIANS BEHAVING REAAAAAAALLY BADLY!!!!
It's going to be the scandal of the year!!!! Coming to your favourite blog shortly....let me put the pictures together first!!!!
KRISS DUMPS GHETTO RADIO FOR CAPITAL FM
It's always about money! Kriss Darling has dumped a deal he was being offered by producer Majimaji, the new programmes controller of Ghetto Radio. Capital FM seems to be giving him a better deal, of course with more money, but they are still negotiating. Apparently, Capital want to give him a show on his own, but Kriss insists that the deal has to include his Dohty Family DJ unit, which has Jahwatchman, Daddy Konia, Pattyranks, DJ Ken, among others.
JULIANI BUYS A BMW
Gospel musician Juliani seems to be doing well. The boy just bought a second hand navy blue BMW 5 Series car, which is in perfect condition. He now owns two cars as he has given his girlfriend LC the souped up Toyota Starlet he has been using. "I love BMW and now am on my way to the BMW X5, my dream car," he said. In other news, the musician has recalled his manager, Jean Marc, whom he had earlier fired alongside DJ Viq, his former official tour organiser.
NEW SHOWBIZ PARENTS
Dohty Family's Kriss Darling and Papa Shirandula actress Jackie Ominde (Wilbroda) are among the latest showbiz parents. Kriss got a daughter less that three weeks ago while Wilbroda gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last Friday. Although Kriss does not want to reveal who the mother of the child is, Wilbroda's fiance is Supersport cameraman Francis Ngira.

MAMAs UGANDA VENUE CANCELLED
The possibility of Uganda hosting the MTV Africa Music awards this year has gone down the drain. Sources from the MTV UK headquarters have revealed that the venue has been changed after Uganda's capital Kampala, was attacked by terrorists last Sunday, killing over 60 people. It is still not clear where the next possible venue will be.
CHIWAWA IS A PROUD FATHER
Hip-hop musician Chiwawa is a proud father. His son Jabali was born last Sunday. Chiwawa says he's naming his up-coming album after his son. "This album will be clean, no beef songs," he says. However, all the dis tracks have been put in a mix tape called 'Beef and Toothpicks', already doing rounds in music stores and events.
CMB PREZZO'S HEAD SECURITY NOW A FREELANCE!!
Wonder why CMB Prezzo has been spotted in many entertainment joints without his security detail? Wonder no more. His head security, popularly known as Oti, has gone freelance since Prezzo is not able to sustain him on a daily basis as he used to. Oti has been seen in the company of top politicians and businessmen, whom he has been guarding for the past few months. Inside sources say that Prezzo only calls Oti once in a while, especially when going to particular joints, especially in Westlands. More information indicate that a security institution in Israel has sponsored Oti to do a six-months security training course. He's set to leave in September.

AY TO FACEBOOKERS: AM ALIVE AND FINE!
Facebookers have gone crazy! Last Sunday they were spreading rumors that Nameless got an accident in Mombasa, which was a big lie. This evening it's about Bongo musician AY, whom they are saying is dead. AY is so much alive and disgusted by the haters who are spreading bad rumors all over. Among the first musicians to call AY when the rumors started spreading was Uganda's Bebe Cool, who confirmed by posting an update on his Facebook status.
FIRST 'FRESHERS BASH' EVER AT STRATHMORE
Students of Strathmore University will experience the first ever freshers bash this Friday. On the decks will be gospel deejay, DJ Krowbar, and ex-homeboyz DJ Wesley, alongside other gospel artistes who will perform. The most shocking thing is that this gig will be held in the afternoon!!!!! Is this a university or a high school?
KAMPALA BOMB AFFECTS MTV PLANS ON MAMAS
Sunday night's bomb blast, that killed 65 people in Uganda's capital, Kampala, has affected plans for MTV and Zain to host MAMAs in the country. According to a very inside source, a high level meeting was called yesterday in London, the MTV headquarters, to discuss the matter, mostly because the blasts occurred in entertainment joints. Although it's not clear what was the outcome of the meeting, it's possible that the venue might change.
"MTV is a big event, must be done indoors and the capacity should be over 3,000 people. If the terrorists managed to kill 65, the 3,000 plus MTV fans would be a successful job for them," said the source. "And in MAMAs, we have artistes from all over Africa, Europe and America. The damage would be really bad."
Tanzania is still not a very good venue for the awards since they don't have a good venue.
ABBAS AND CHIWAWA TO FACE OFF NEXT WEEK
It's time to make money! The beef is now on the table and they are taking it on the stage. Next week, Friday 23, the big show will go down. Venue? The Carnivore. They will face each other for the first time, after months of serious beef, accusing each other of all sorts of things. The latest attempt to put the two hip-hop artistes in one room was done four weeks ago, where a couple of hip-hop producers wanted them to declare a truce. Fifteen minutes later, Abbas walked out of Phoenix Studios in Adams Arcade, where the meeting was. He said he could not sit in the same room with Chiwawa, and told the producers to email them if any worthy developments were realised. I wonder what will happen on Friday, where they will have to face each other in front of their fans!
According to the Carnivore, security will be beefed-up to avoid any ugly incidences, coz this one looks real ugly.

HELLON, QUINCY, KUYU AND ARUNGA: THE DRAMA SO FAR.....MADNESS!
Apparently, the house in Kitisuru where the four went after being evicted in Runda, is not theirs. They were not renting it out either. The house belongs to one of Hellon's friends who gave them refuge for some time. And now they are out and they are being housed by Aaron Rimbui, a former member of the Finger of God Church, in Kileleshwa.
The truth is, these guys are very desperate. They need money. The only thing left is their music school in Spring Valley, where they rent anyway. Last month, the school had a rent arrears of Sh300,000, while their house in Runda had arrears of Sh600,000, that's why they were evicted. After eviction, they went to see Kuyu's dad (Kuyu is Hellon's wife), looking for money to settle their rental issues. Kuyu's dad decided to write a Sh300,000 cheque to the LANDLORD, not Hellon or Kuyu. That, prevented them from using the cash to do other things. Further, he advised the couple to use an extra room as their shelter before they sort their problems out. And the worst thing is? Hellon rudely told Kuyu's dad: "We are here to look for money, not advice." And Kuyu said that she will always support her husband Hellon. Very sad.
Now, the Maroon mercedes benz. It does not belong to Kuyu. Actually it's owned by Kuyu's mum, and now they have been frozen to use it. That's why they went to Subru Motors two weeks ago, looking for a way of trading in Esther's BMW for a Range Rover sport. But it didn't work coz they didn't have a log book.
Will these people ever get help? Or will they ever get back to their senses?
FALSE RUMORS ON NAMELESS SPREAD ON FACEBOOK
There were rumors on Facebook yesterday that musician Nameless had been involved in a freaky accident in Mombasa. By the time the rumors were spreading, ShowbizTu confirmed that Nameless was fine and had not been in any accident. When we contacted him, he was about to do sound check at the Vasco da Gama public beach in Malindi, where he was meant to perform in the afternoon.
